Replace Push Notifications You Already Sent

Push Notifications you already sent can now be replaced with a new one. Use it to update a notification when the situation changes, for example when an incident you alerted on is resolved.

Replace a Push Notification

Every Push Notification you send returns a notification_id. Pass it to replace with the new content.

const sent = await activitysmith.notifications.send({
title: "🚨 checkout-api is down",
message: "500 errors on 62% of requests.",
});
await activitysmith.notifications.replace(sent.notification_id, {
title: "✅ checkout-api recovered",
message: "Error rate is back to normal.",
});

The new notification takes the old one's place on your Lock Screen and in Notification Center, so you don't end up with two. It arrives silently, without sound or lighting up the screen, and goes to the same devices as the original. Your notification history shows the latest version.

Availability

Available through the API, SDKs version 1.14.0 and newer, the CLI, and the MCP server.
